| Bucheon Gallery
is committed to the exhibition of
provocative contemporary artwork in San Francisco.
Programming includes focused solo shows by
emerging
and mid-career artists interspersed with
themed group
exhibitions.
Bucheon
enriches the cultural dialogue of the
city by incorporating artworks from the
East Coast and abroad alongside local
artists. The development of individual
careers is facilitated through the placement
of work
in private collections and in prestigious
museum
exhibitions, and Bucheon encourages the
education and
participation of collectors through private
functions
and public openings. Bucheon anticipates
the continued
presentation of challenging artwork reflecting
the
cultural diversity of cosmopolitan San
Francisco.

Review : Is it a Fiber Show?
As a satellite
venue for the New West Coast Design
exhibition, Bucheon gallery breaks
its mold this month with a soft-sided
show of fibrous artworks produced by
some very talented left coasters. The
exhibition's title cleverly poses the
question, Is it a Fiber Show?

Bill Dunlap
has a well developed visual alphabet
with references to the magic of triangles,
demons, angels, spirits, and incantations.
A number of his colorful works contain
snippets of words, sort of non-sequitur
phrases, that when paired with his inked
and painted monsters, look like visual
magic spells. Whether these spells attempt
to ward off evil or invite evil to dinner
is hard to decipher. Bill is probably
the only one who knows for sure.

Margaret
Wall-Romana
"
The Spaces "
Too much contemporary
painting relies more on the staying
power of an idea than on visual experience.
But the new work at Bucheon of former
Bay Area painter Margaret Wall-Romana,
who now lives in Minneapolis, rewards
scrutiny on every level, and promises
to go on doing so…
